While Award Shows such as The Oscars are watched by regular people, they aren't created for them. At their core these award shows are about two things: self-flattery and advertising. In response to this problem an award show was created that focused less about advertising and more regular, every day people. A nominee could win a Glizzy for anything that furthers the hot dog, regardless of notoriety.
